Refund enquiries on clients' returns should not be directed to your EFILE helpdesk . Please direct all refund enquiries to the general enquiries section of your tax services office. Advise your clients that our enquiries officers cannot check the status of a refund until four weeks after the Canada Revenue Agency has accepted the electronic return for processing. Therefore, if a delay is encountered in submitting the return, you must inform your client accordingly.
Your clients can also visit My Account to get information about the status of their current-year refund.
If you calculated a balance owing on your client's personal income tax return, the processing of the return will be held for a maximum of 10 days (3 cycles). Any payment made within that period should be reflected on the Notice of Assessment. If it is not indicated, a revised statement will be issued as soon as the payment has been applied (as indicated in a message printed on the Notice of Assessment).
Inform clients who have a balance owing that any unpaid balance is due on April 30, 2010.
